Keith Marion Board Scholarship Winner Announced

Congratulations to Hudson Dye for being chosen the recipient of this year's scholarship! He will receive $5,750 toward his tuition and fees for next year.

Hudson is a rising junior whose family has been served by Ben Lippen and CIU for three generations. Hudson was born in Chile where his family served as missionaries. He was homeschooled there before coming to Ben Lippen. He attended BL for two years in elementary school before coming back full time in eighth grade and hopes to finish all of his high school years here as his parents now serve in the United States.

Hudson states that his life's goal is "to do whatever possible to further God's kingdom." Vocationally he hopes to use his gifts as a teacher one day -- either in the U.S. or on the mission field.

He has demonstrated a perseverance in academics by not only applying himself diligently but consistently seeking to understand the meaning behind all of his subjects. He is a member of the National Honor Society but his accomplishments transcend a high GPA. Academic Advisor Amanda Harmon states that this student "not only strives for excellence in his own studies, but willingly and generously helps others toward
understanding."

Socially he has demonstrated an ability to lead others on the freshman leadership team at Ben Lippen and by volunteering to assist with the children's ministry at his local church. In addition he hopes to be a Prefect next year and serve the Ben Lippen boarding students by helping to encourage and incorporate them into the life of the school. We believe he is uniquely qualified to do this with his cross-cultural experience
and Boarding Program Director Steve Sark states "I have observed this young man demonstrating spiritual leadership and healthy social relationships in his contact with our international students. He proactively seeks to build friendships with the international students and is a welcoming face to many first year international students who struggle to find connections among their American classmates."

The candidate has shown mastery of and perseverance in multiple sports at Ben Lippen. He has run cross country, played soccer and has been a member of the wrestling team. In February he achieved a goal of becoming SCISA Wrestling State Champion in his weight class.

We wish Hudson continued success as he finishes his high school years at BLS and leaves to serve the Lord wherever He may lead.
