Brian Larsen Named Head Baseball Coach

Brian Larsen’s last coaching assignment was six seasons as head coach at Northside Christian Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina where in 2015 he led the Knights to their first state playoff win in over a decade. In 2016, Larsen was named Northside’s athletic director, in addition to continuing as head baseball coach. That season the baseball team finished with a record of 21-6 and won the 2A NCISAA Baseball State Championship.

Prior to coaching at Northside, Larsen was head baseball coach at Dr. Michael Krop High School in North Miami, Florida for six seasons, leading the Lightning to their first district championship in over 10 years. While at Krop, Larsen was twice voted District Coach of the Year.

Other experience for Larsen includes assistant baseball coach at American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida where he coached future major leaguers Eric Hosner and Deven Marrero.

Larsen played college baseball for Broward County Community College in Florida and Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee where he hit .392 his junior year and was an all-conference selection.

Larson has been serving as a physical education teacher in Ben Lippen’s upper school since the beginning of this school year. Athletics Director Scott Jones says the Ben Lippen Falcons are fortunate that Larsen was already on staff when the coaching position opened.

“Brian Larsen has been a very successful coach,” Jones said. “We have great confidence in his leadership of the baseball program.”

Larsen replaces Jonathan Johnson who has resigned after two years as head coach to dedicate more time to his ministry, “Honoring the Father.”
