Ben Lippen Schools' resident students come to Columbia from the four corners of the world to study English as a Second Language (ESL) and take advantage of a quality education in a Christian environment. Teachers, administration, staff and houseparents value every student and seek to make each student feel at home. Resident students are strategically placed with American students or students of another language to enhance the use of English as well as intercultural understanding.
Ben Lippen School offers an alternative to typical dorm life in traditional boarding schools by creating a family atmosphere within contemporary-style houses. Up to 16 students live in each house with houseparents who seek to provide love and guidance. Our goal is to develop well-rounded individuals spiritually, academically, and socially. Students in our resident program gain the valuable experience of being “on their own”. Although the houseparents keep a caring, protective eye on their family, each student is able to get a glimpse of what it’s going to be like when they attend college.
A structured environment provides for academic excellence and study. Students attend a supervised evening study hall each school night. Weekends allow for more free time, social events, and sports. Students can enjoy basketball, softball, volleyball, jogging, fishing, weightlifting, camping, shopping, and visiting local attractions. Sunday is set aside for rest and worship, a time when students attend local church services and youth activities.
