Alumni Spotlight: Andrew Peckham, Class of 2005

Leading with Purpose

From the moment he stepped onto the Ben Lippen campus in 8th grade, Andrew knew he was part of something special. With parents deeply rooted in Christian education, his mother a lifelong Christian school teacher and his father the Director of Recruitment at CIU, Ben Lippen was a natural fit. It offered not only a strong academic foundation but also a vibrant community where faith, athletics, and leadership development were intertwined.

“I’ll never forget those years,” he recalls. “Ben Lippen shaped who I am—spiritually, academically, and athletically.”

As a three-sport athlete, Andrew made his mark on the football field, basketball court, and baseball diamond. His junior year basketball team won the region championship, and the electric “Superfans” student section brought unforgettable energy to every game. In his senior year, he earned All-Area and All-State honors in baseball,  just a few highlights among countless bus rides, practices, and big moments that made being a Falcon so meaningful.

He also credits several Ben Lippen mentors for leaving a lasting impact, including Coach Lonnie Emard, Coach Brent Walsh, Rob Settle, Cliff White, and Dale Angstadt. “Each of them poured into me in their own way—whether in the classroom, on the court, or through daily encouragement. They helped shape my character and leadership.”

After graduation, Andrew received a scholarship to play baseball at Erskine College and later completed his undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina. He then earned a Master’s degree in 2012 and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership in 2018. His career in education and athletics began in 2007, and over the years, he has coached and mentored numerous student-athletes.

In July 2024, Andrew was named Athletic Director at River Bluff High School, one of the largest high schools in South Carolina. The transition from coach to AD has allowed him to expand his influence beyond individual teams.

“While coaching let me impact specific groups of athletes, this role lets me help shape the entire athletic experience. It energizes me to support our coaches, build a culture of sportsmanship and excellence, and make sure our athletes are thriving—not just in sports, but in life.”

Off the field, the ‘05 alumnus is deeply grounded in faith and family. He and his wife Hannah are the proud parents of three young daughters: Emma Caroline (7), Lainey (5), and Evelyn (born earlier this year). He enjoys beach trips, golf, spending time at church, cheering on the Gamecocks, and creating memories with his family.

When asked what drives him, the answer is simple:

“My relationship with the Lord. My faith is the foundation that guides everything—how I lead, how I love, how I serve. I’m passionate about making a difference, and I hope to reflect Christ in all I do.”
