Reflection and Growth: A Look Back at 2024–2025

Reflection is a vital part of the learning process. As the 2024–2025 school year comes to a close, it’s worth asking: What happened? How did we grow? What lessons can we carry forward?

This year has brought many memorable moments across our divisions. We celebrate the wins,
but we also recognize that growth often comes through all types of experiences—not just the
successes. As lifelong learners, we embrace reflection as a key part of our journey.

Here are some highlights from each division:

Lower School

  • Read Across Ben Lippen Week: Students and staff celebrated the joy of reading with the theme, "Get Hooked on a Book," boosting engagement and nurturing a love of reading.
  • Spring Fling: This festive evening showcases student achievements in music and art while bringing families together for games, entertainment, and fellowship as the school year wraps up.
  • Fourth Grade Trip to the Ark: To culminate their lower school years, fourth graders will travel to the Ark and Creation Museum in May, deepening bonds and growing in faith through shared experiences.

Middle School

  • Spiritual Life Challenge (SLC) Day: A day of fun, service, and spiritual growth, SLC builds community and encourages students to extend Christlike love beyond Ben Lippen’s campus.
  • Junior Honor Society Induction: Students in grades 6–8 are recognized for scholarship, leadership, service, and character, gaining opportunities to lead within the middle school.
  • Washington D.C. Trip: A highlight of eighth grade, this trip blends sightseeing with spiritual growth through student-led devotions and shared experiences that strengthen bonds before high school.

High School

  • CNA Program: The only independent school in Columbia offering a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant program, Ben Lippen continues its 100% pass rate, preparing students for healthcare careers.
  • Aviation Program: Partnering with Propel Aviation, students work toward earning a private pilot’s license. This year included a visit to JAARS headquarters to witness aviation in mission work, with a 100% pass rate on the Ground Instruction Test.
  • Capstone Bible Course: Launched this year, the senior Capstone Bible Course challenges students to apply biblical truth to personal, local, and global issues through a culminating project that fosters critical thinking and real-world impact.

As we reflect on these highlights, ask yourself: What did I learn? How did I grow? What steps can I take to keep growing? I encourage you to carry these reflections into the summer and beyond. Let them inspire fresh growth and deeper learning as we look ahead to another great year.

Enjoy the journey.

For Emily and Robby Woodard, Ben Lippen School is far more than just a place of learning. It’s a cornerstone of their family’s story. Both members of the Class of 1999, Emily and Robby’s connection to Ben Lippen began as middle schoolers in 1994 and has continued into the next generation with their children, Archie (Class of 2023) and Connie Anne (Class of 2025).
