Staff Story: Katie Pink

Tell us about your family. My husband, Steve, and I met as first year teachers and we just celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. We have three daughters who all attend Ben Lippen. My husband works for Young Life, a high school outreach ministry. Our family’s longest and deepest friendships are with staff and families with whom we have served in the ministry of Young Life over the last 15 years. We have two dogs, both of whom are French Brittanys.

What do you like to do in your free time? In my free time, I love to read. Quarantine has been amazing in terms of helping me get through a huge portion of my “to be read” list. I also spend a good deal of time writing and love taking my dogs for walks.

What do you love most about Ben Lippen? What I love most about Ben Lippen is the sense of community with students, staff/faculty, and families.

What do students get at Ben Lippen that they won’t get somewhere else? I think that at Ben Lippen, students receive attention from teachers and staff who love differently because they love and are loved by Jesus. I also think that the size of the school gives students the opportunity for more individualized learning and care.

For Emily and Robby Woodard, Ben Lippen School is far more than just a place of learning. It’s a cornerstone of their family’s story. Both members of the Class of 1999, Emily and Robby’s connection to Ben Lippen began as middle schoolers in 1994 and has continued into the next generation with their children, Archie (Class of 2023) and Connie Anne (Class of 2025).
