Shawn Farrell, a senior at Ben Lippen School, is living out his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. “I’ve wanted to be a pilot my entire life,” he shares. Shawn’s dedication to aviation has only grown stronger over the years, and Ben Lippen has played a key role in helping him reach his goal. “Ben Lippen has helped me further on the path to success,” he says, mentioning the support he’s received both academically and personally.

One of the most significant milestones in Shawn’s journey came last semester when he enrolled in the school’s aviation class. The class helped him prepare for—and pass—the written portion of the private pilot’s license test last fall. Thanks to his hard work, Shawn recently earned his full private pilot’s license—an impressive accomplishment for any young adult.

Shawn’s passion doesn’t stop with aviation.  An accomplished athlete, he is a National Sporting Clay Association master-class shooter, with two state championships under his belt and a spot on the Jacksonville University shooting team next year.

When asked about his biggest influences, Shawn credits his parents. “My parents have influenced my life the most,” he says. “They always supported me in whatever I wanted to do, taught me to be responsible, and encouraged me to make my own decisions.” These lessons have not only shaped his character but also helped him to find his calling to be a pilot early on.

As Shawn reflects on his journey, he acknowledges the role that faith has played in his success. “The Lord has worked in my life in many ways,” he says. “He has blessed me with many opportunities, and gifts in order to take advantage of them.”

To his peers, Shawn offers this piece of advice: “Figure out what you want to do, and make sure you know the steps you need to take to get there.” With his focus and determination, Shawn Farrell is a student destined for great things—both in aviation and beyond.
