Mrs. Gates has been with Ben Lippen for over 22 years! Over the years, she has not only taught here at Ben Lippen but has also served as a Boarding Program Houseparent and represented Ben Lippen in a teacher exchange program to China. Her husband, Rich, teaches at Ben Lippen (7th grade science) as well. They have three children… The oldest, Henri, graduated from Ben Lippen in 2008 and makes his living playing guitar! The Gates’ middle child, Anna Maria Gates-Crowson, is also a Ben Lippen alum. Caroline, the youngest of the Gates crew, is presently a freshman at Columbia International University. In her free time, Mrs. Gates enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, and swimming!

What is something most people don’t know about you? 

I grew up overseas in Malaysia and Singapore as a missionary kid.

Growing in the Lord

Why do you choose to work at Ben Lippen? 

I love being a part of Christian Education. I am confident that God has called me here.

What do you love most about teaching second grade? 

I  love seeing the students learn and grow. I especially enjoy seeing them excited about discovering and learning new things.

What do you love most about teaching your students? 

I love getting to know these unique children & their personalities and seeing them grow.
