Teacher Feature: Tim Wheeler
Tim Wheeler, 6th Grade Science Teacher, is in his third year teaching at Ben Lippen School. "Each day reinforces my love for this incredible community," he shares, highlighting the positive impact that the school environment has on both him and his students.
In his Earth and Space Science classes, Mr. Wheeler teaches science from a Biblical perspective, connecting scientific concepts with God's design. "I look forward to connecting faith and science daily, demonstrating how science shows our God's immense power, intelligence, and grace," he explains. Whether studying Earth’s processes or the vastness of space, Mr. Wheeler emphasizes that all of it points to the Creator. He hopes to inspire his students to "see science as a way to know and glorify Him."
In Middle School Flight Group, Mr. Wheeler sees the Lord work daily in the lives of his students. "This time allows us to share the challenges we face openly, whether in school or outside of it, and to celebrate the ways we see God working in our lives," he says. The opportunity to invest in students spiritually and emotionally through prayer and Christ-centered discussions has been a powerful experience for him.
Mr. Wheeler recalls an example of Ben Lippen’s spiritual community during a middle school football game. After a player was injured, Mr. Wheeler's 6th-grade students spontaneously gathered to pray for the player. “It was a beautiful display of the love and compassion that defines the Ben Lippen community," he recalls.
For Mr. Wheeler, this type of act shows the unique ethos at Ben Lippen: a place where faith, community, and service are a natural part of daily life. It’s moments like these that make Ben Lippen more than just a school but a community where students actively live out their values.
