STEM Program
Our standards-based STEM Program begins in lower school with problem-solving projects designed to enhance the student’s understanding of the standards. In addition to these projects, our students participate in Falcon Farms which is designed to increase interaction with the environment, problem-solving, and responsibility to care for God’s creation. This begins with understanding the basics of gardening, both indoor and outdoor, the life cycles of chickens from egg to coop, and examining environmental systems through hydroponics and aquaponics. In middle school, they build on their lower school experiences by designing their own aquaponics system and exploring the physical components of engineering and aeronautics. In high school, students can choose to advance their experiences through specialized classes including engineering, aeronautics, and computer science.
Ben Lippen offers students multiple opportunities to experience engineering through robotics. Our Lower School students have afterschool clubs offered to all three campuses as well as two summer opportunities that include engineering and robotics. The robotics experiences continue in middle school with an after-school club offered year-round. They also have opportunities to continue to explore engineering and robotics during the summer. Within our curriculum, we utilize Lego robots at three different levels: Milo for beginners, Spike for intermediate, and EV3 for advanced, in addition to other coding and robotics experiences.
Our high school curriculum encompasses an extensive array of subjects, from electronics and drafting to 3-D modeling and 3-D printing. Students delve into the intricacies of computer networking and programming, exploring various platforms, including Arduino and Raspberry Pi, all while engaging in stimulating and enjoyable projects.
Furthermore, we introduce our students to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI), empowering them to develop Python projects that leverage real data for authentic predictive analysis. We delve into Computer Vision using TensorFlow and embrace the latest Python Data-driven innovations.
Our ultimate objective is to provide a comprehensive technological education that equips our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to flourish in an ever-evolving technological landscape. We also desire for our students to be innovative problem-solvers who take responsibility for the world God has created.
At Ben Lippen School, we are unwavering in our dedication to nurturing the tech leaders of tomorrow, and we eagerly anticipate continuing our journey of innovation and excellence in technology education.
Aviation Program
Ben Lippen School desires to see its students fly high in pursuit of their God-given passions by preparing them for all kinds of careers—including aviation.
Partnering with Propel Aviation, Ben Lippen launched an aeronautics program in 2023.The program will offer high school students the opportunity to learn about aviation and potentially earn a private pilot’s license by the time they graduate high school.
“Aviation is a unique profession that connects you internationally with different cultures, ethnicities, and faiths,” said Taj Troy, founder and owner of Propel Aviation. “As examples of Christ, pilots have the ability to share God’s love locally and globally.”
Propel’s FAA-certified pilots will teach ground instruction on Ben Lippen’s campus during the program’s first semester. During the second semester, students may use the scheduled time to work on their flight hours. Ben Lippen hopes to continue to build the aeronautics program to expand students’ opportunities during high school and beyond.
“We desire to offer our students various types of opportunities to develop their passions for their future,” said Assistant Head of School of Academics, Dr. Monica Remer.
Ben Lippen is the real world. Our children attend class with children from all over the city (and the world) and all walks of life. Ben Lippen teaches our children how to seek God and incorporate Him in everything we do. That's as real as it gets.
