Patty SwiftI am Patty Swift and have served as the lower school librarian since 2005. I think it is in the Lord's humor that I am now in this position because as a child I did not enjoy reading. It was not until after I graduated from college that I realized I loved to read, and had missed out on so many great kids' books.

So now I say, "If your child says they don't like to read," they just haven't found the right book yet. My job is to help find that right book for them! I look forward to working with your child.

The Ben Lippen Lower School Library exists to train students in basic library skills, provide reading materials for individual interests and the Accelerated Reader program, and house resources to supplement classroom curriculum. It seeks to train students to find “just right” books to cultivate a joy of reading and learning.

Upper School Library

Pattie WheelerI am Pattie Wheeler and have been the librarian for the upper school since 2000. I have the privilege to daily look around our library as students read, work on their iPads, and to see teachers planning lessons. I enjoy reading books that represent all reading levels and I love to work with students of all ages which is why I like to work in the upper school. It is fun to see how our students in grades 6-8 change as they enter ninth grade, then eventually graduate from Ben Lippen.

I am thankful that the Lord has placed me in a school that allows me the freedom to purchase good Christian fiction and nonfiction that support the curriculum and provide recreational reading for students. It is a blessing to be able to work with teachers as they plan lessons to help students achieve to be their best.

The Ben Lippen Upper School Library seeks to provide an environment in which the student is encouraged to pursue becoming a Christian scholar by providing and advocating the reading of books for pleasure, and having materials available that support the Ben Lippen community as a whole. Periodicals are located in the library for student and teacher use for recreational reading and research. The library is located in the upper school building on the second floor.
