Does Your Student Need a Tutor?
Finding time to work with a tutor can be challenging so we wanted to let you know of some services available to Ben Lippen students.
Yup.com – This service provides students with access to math tutors 24/7 through their online platform. You can find more information on this service on the FAQ page at https://yup.com/faq-for-families/. Yup.com is a subscription-based service.
Tutor.com – Tutor.com is a service powered by the Princeton Review. Services include subject-specific tutoring, practices quizzes, and SAT/ACT and AP practice. Students are required to sign up for a FREE account, but there are limitations to the services provided (for example, students may ask for help on one specific math problem in a 24-hour period). Students can ask questions of tutors using chat or chat + voice.
Your student’s access to Tutor.com is through the digital library service scdiscus.org. When signing in at home, your child’s username is: discus2022 and password is: start1! (these are case sensitive). Note: These are not the username and password for Tutor.com, your student will sent up a personal account using his or her information to access the resources offered on the site.
You can find more information about using Tutor.com through scdiscus.org in this video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVZnVB3gJAE.
Sylvan Learning Center – Sylvan Learning has offered a discounted rate of $49 for personalized academic assessments for Ben Lippen families (regularly $95) and 10% off personalized programs for Ben Lippen families (includes Homework Support). National Honors Society – Students may wish to take advantage of meeting with another Ben Lippen student who is a member of the National Honor Society for tutoring during their study hall or after school in the SRC. (subject to availability). Please contact Mrs. Amanda Harmon to express your interest (amanda.harmon@benlippen.com).
