High School Summer Update 7.20.22

July 24, 2022 Ben Lippen News, Upper School News

Dear High School Parents and Students,

I hope everyone is having a great summer so far!  I have heard about several amazing opportunities students and families have been able to participate in through camps and trips.  I look forward to continuing to see/hear about everyone’s summer experiences.

It is crazy to think that we are less than one month away from the first day of school on August 10.  I am looking forward to having all the students back on campus but at the same time, I don’t want to see the end of summer.  We have a lot going on here in the school as we prepare for that first day.  Construction is ongoing with the phase 2 remodel of the dining room.  We are also in the process of converting previous office space into 5 additional classrooms, 2 for high school and 3 for middle school.  These projects are on track to be finished before the first day of school and we are excited to show them off to the students when they return to school.

As we continue through the summer, we will be sending a few updates to help everyone get ready for the new school year.  A few things to bring to your attention so that you can start planning:

  • We are finalizing student schedules for next school year and hope to have them ready by next week.  Mrs. Dallery is going through each schedule individually and making sure the students have the classes they need for the upcoming school year.  Please look for communication from her when schedules are released.

  • We are getting more and more excited about the high school Camp Ben Lippen Retreat at Carolina Point.  Last year’s retreat was such an awesome experience and impactful in the lives of so many students.  You can see just a few of the many highlights of last year’s retreat by clicking here.  The dates of the retreat this year will be Monday, August 15 to Thursday, August 18. We will leave at the start of school on Monday and be back by the end of the school day on Thursday.   On Friday, August 19 there is no school for high school students to allow time for rest and recovery from the retreat.  The purpose of the trip is for the high schoolers to have fun, grow closer in their relationships with each other, and ultimately grow in their relationship with the Lord.  We are excited that all high schoolers will be able to start the school year off with this retreat and gain valuable time to focus on our Lord and Savior as we begin and go through the new school year.

  • As we prepare for this year’s Camp Ben Lippen, we have created a short survey to help as we put the final touches on the trip.  Please fill out 1 survey for each of your high school students by clicking here.  Further information, including a packing list, will be sent out closer to the start of school.

  • The High School Supply List has been updated and is on the school website here.

  • All new students are invited to attend our New Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 9 from 9AM-11AM to receive a student-led tour and receive a variety of information to help in their transition to Ben Lippen.

  • As well as the New Student Orientation, we will be hosting a High School Open Campus on Tuesday, August 9 (the day before school starts) from 9AM-12PM for any student in grades 9 through 12 who would like to get their schedules and meet their teachers.  Students will also be able to check-out lockers, check-out their textbooks, and receive parking decals.

Although we still have several weeks left of the summer, I am excited about the upcoming school year.  Until then, I hope everyone has a wonderful summer!  Enjoy the break and extra time with family.  If you need anything, please do not hesitate to email me or the High School Office (gina.dickinson@benlippen.com).  Go Falcons!
