High School Update and Reminders

February 17, 2022 Upper School News

Dear High School Parents and Students,

It is crazy to say it, but spring is in the air in February. On top of the beautiful weather we have had, the winter athletic season has ended and the spring season has officially begun. If you were not able to make it to our winter musical production, Newsies, you missed an amazing experience! The high school students involved in the musical worked hard the last several months and presented an incredible production. Bravo to all the cast members and the amazing direction of Mr. Yoder and Mr. Nelson.

As we are entering a four-day weekend for the students (no school tomorrow for a Teacher Work Day and no school Monday for Presidents’ Day), I wanted to highlight a few things that are coming up in the High School.

  1. Re-enrollment Information: Parents, if you have not yet re-enrolled your student(s), please visit the Parent Portal in RenWeb for the Apply/Enroll link to complete your student’s re-enrollment today! If you have questions about tuition or billing, we encourage you to reach out to our Tuition & Billing Coordinator, Susan Carpenter at or (803) 807-4129. Please reach out to Kelly Adams ( in the Admissions office if you have questions about the re-enrollment process.
  2. 2022/2023 Course Registration: We will be releasing the 2022/2023 Course Catalog next week. This will officially begin the registration process for next school year. On Monday, February 28, we will be hosting a Rising 9th Grade Meeting (5 p.m.) and a Rising 10th/11th Meeting (7 p.m.) at the Jones Center (first building on the right when pulling into CIU). These meetings are for parents and students in the respective grade levels to learn about updates for the coming school year and for us to answer any academic questions that you might have. Beginning March 7th, we will open registration for rising Seniors and in the subsequent weeks for Juniors, then Sophomores, and then Freshmen. More details will be coming out next week.
  3. 9th/10th Grade ERB Testing: Freshmen and Sophomores will be taking their annual standardized testing, the ERB test, on Monday, March 7 through Wednesday, March 9. Each day they will only be in testing in the morning for a few hours and will then return to normal classes after testing has been completed. A more detailed schedule will be sent out soon.
  4. Parenting Summit: Each generation presents characteristics that distinguish it from those that came before. Most of today’s students, born between 1997 and 2012, are members of Generation Z (Gen Z) and have grown up in a post-Recession world where technology is as commonplace as sweet tea in the South. In this Parenting Summit, we will explore the unique qualities of Gen Z and what characterizes them as students, young adults, and people of faith. Join us on Thursday, February 24, at 8:30 a.m. in the William H. Jones Center at Columbia International University. This event is for parents of students in Pre-K3 through 12th grade. Please contact Guidance Counselor Trisha Kirkland ( with questions.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Go Falcons!

In Him,

Max Russell
High School Principal
