High School Update: Easter Break

April 8, 2022 Upper School News

Dear High School Parents and Students,

Easter Break is upon us!  Many have been looking forward to this time as a break from the busyness and routine of the everyday with school.  We have had a lot going on at Ben Lippen since we returned after Christmas, and Easter Break will be a great opportunity for rest, family, and fun.

We are getting ready to go into Passion Week. Mr. Burnett, Discipleship Coordinator, did a wonderful job Wednesday in chapel helping to focus the students on the week.  He went through the final 8 days of Christ’s life and the impact they have in our lives today.  Mr. Burnett gave a “C word” to help the students remember each day and reflect on what happened: Palm Sunday, “Day of Celebration”; Monday, “Day of Confrontation”; Tuesday, “Day of Controversy”; Wednesday, “Day of Conspiracy”; Thursday, “Day of Communion”; Good Friday, “Day of Crucifixion”; Saturday, “Day of Cessation”; and Easter Sunday, “Day of Conquest”. My hope is that, as students go through each day this coming week, they are able to reflect on what Jesus lived through during Passion week, see how it applies to their lives, and hopefully draw closer to Him.

As we go into Break, there are a few reminders that I would like to share:

  • Easter Break: Students will be on Break from Monday, April 11 through Monday, April 18.  Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 19th (B Day).

  • Special Thanks:  Thank you so much to all the parents for making Teacher Appreciation Week so special.  We appreciated all the goodies, gifts, and love you showered upon us.  Thank you for your support!

  • Ukrainian Service Project: We have two Ukrainian students this year at Ben Lippen, Daniil and Eva Mykolenko.  The school has the opportunity to partner with their parents, Mark and Natalia Waynick, to provide items that will be shipped to Ukraine. The Waynicks will ship the items to Ukraine.  The high school will be collecting spring/summer clothing for ages 7-15. Collection dates will be April 19 – April 29.  Please join us as we support the children and families in Ukraine during this difficult time.

  • Prom: Our Junior/Senior Prom will be held on Saturday, April 30th.  The Juniors announced the theme of Prom, Miami Nights, last week to the Seniors.  The event should be a fun night for the Juniors, Seniors, and their invited guests.  We will be selling tickets to the event after Easter Break for invited guests of the Juniors and Seniors.  Details of the event were sent out previously to Juniors and Seniors.  If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Dickinson (gina.dickinson@benlippen.com).

I hope everyone has a great break and all the students are able to return refreshed and finish the school year strong.  If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to the high school office (gina.dickinson@benlippen.com).  Happy Easter!

In Him,

Max Russell
High School Principal
