High School Update: Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month
Dear High School Parents and Students,
We had an amazing chapel speaker today, Mr. Jim VanSteenhouse (the “Bear Man”)! His testimony and story of survival kept everyone’s attention and created great discussions after. We have had a great start to our chapels, and I look forward to continuing to see how the Lord moves our students through the worship and speakers.
For the past several years, we have partnered with Prisma Health Children’s Hospital (formerly Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital) in September for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. We have organized drives for Play-Doh, snacks, pillowcases, and gift cards for the kids in the hospital and for their families. This year, we are partnering with the hospital to bring in fidget poppers for the children and/or $10 gift cards to Tropical Smoothie or Subway for the families (see the attached flier). In the high school, we are going to make this a class competition and the class that brings in the most fidget poppers (minimum 9 bubbles per popper to be counted) will receive a Jeans Week and the class that brings in the most $10 gift cards will receive a Jeans Day every Monday for the remainder of the first semester. We will also be recognizing Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month at the home football game next Friday (9/17) against Laurence Manning.
Reminder to all student drivers, please make sure your car is registered with Mrs. Lambert and has a parking decal on the front and back windshields. Starting next week, students will not be allowed to park on campus if their car does not have a parking decal. For security purposes, we need to make sure we are aware of the cars parked on campus and be able to quickly identify vehicles if need be. If a temporary parking pass is needed, those can be issued by Mrs. Lambert as well.
Finally, please find an updated bell schedule that we will begin next week. The only change in the schedule comes on Wednesday mornings and will fix a timing issue that we noticed these first couple of weeks in school. Every day except Wednesday will keep the same bell schedule.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. If you have any questions or need anything please do not hesitate to reach out to the High School Office (gina.dickinson@benlippen.com).
Go Falcons!
In Him,
Max Russell
High School Principal
