High School Update: Winterim Sign-ups Next Week!

September 4, 2021 Upper School News

Dear High School Parents and Students,

September is here and we started the day with a chill in the air.  It was a great week here in the high school, ending with a pep rally this afternoon and a home football game this evening!  Walking the hallways, it feels like students have settled in and have grown accustomed to their schedules, teachers, and expectations. We had a wonderful Gospel message this week in chapel, given by Nathan Smith of Nathan Smith Ministries.  He shared the message of hope given by the parable of the Prodigal Son and he encouraged students to seek the deep love of God reminding us that His arms are open and waiting for us to come to Him.

We had a great Winterim Fair on Tuesday.  As mentioned during the Parent Night assembly, due to the current state of COVID we had to make the tough decision not to move forward with the international Winterims (Belize and Panama).  We have replaced these Winterims with domestic Winterims (Biloxi/New Orleans with the Hurricane Ida Rebuild and San Antonio).  You can find the explanations for these new Winterims in the Winterim Packet attached.  Winterim sign-ups will be next week with Seniors signing up first on Tuesday (9/7), Juniors on Wednesday (9/8), Sophomores on Thursday (9/9), and Freshmen on Friday (9/10).  Parents will receive an email the night before their student’s assigned day that will provide instructions and a link for sign-ups.  The link will go live each day at 11:00AM.  The attached Winterim Packet has an FAQ section and provides an explanation/cost of all the Winterims that are being offered this year.  We will notify you in the email and remove any Winterims in the link that fill-up prior to your student’s assigned sign-up date.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Gina.Dickinson@BenLippen.com.

Next week we have a couple of changes in the schedule.  There is no school on Monday in observance of Labor Day.  We will return on Tuesday, September 7th, which is an A-Day.  Another change is that we are having a special chapel on Friday with Jim VanSteenhouse, “the Bear Man.”  For this special chapel, we are flipping our Wednesday and Friday schedules.  Next week, on Wednesday we will be running a Tuesday/Thursday/Friday schedule and on Friday we will be running a Wednesday, chapel schedule.  We will continue to announce this throughout the week to help students to remember.  Mr. VanSteenhouse has a powerful testimony and we are excited to host him here at Ben Lippen.

I look forward to continuing to see how the Lord moves in the students during their time at Ben Lippen this school year.  If you have any questions or need anything please feel free to reach out to the high school office.  Go Falcons!

In Him,

Max Russell
High School Principal
