Inaugural Middle School MathCounts Team Performs Well at First Competition!

February 11, 2019 Upper School News

Dear Students and Parents,

This past Saturday our inaugural MathCounts Team attended their first competition. Under the direction of Mrs. Rae Ann Stuckey and Mr. Jay Thompson, the team (comprised of 5 6th Graders and 5 7th Graders) performed well and represented Ben Lippen School with distinction against some very talented (and much older) teams! Attached is a picture of the team from Saturday’s competition. Please join me in congratulating this group of students, along with their coaches Mrs. Stuckey, Mr. Thompson, and Miss Higgins.

Moving forward, we would like to encourage more participation in this program and similar academic opportunities. Practices for next year’s MathCounts Team may begin later this spring and will be open to rising 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade students who are interested in using their gifts for math at a competitive level.

Please be on the lookout for more information about our MathCounts Team (and similar programs and opportunities) in the days ahead!

GO FALCONS!
