Lower School Reminders 2.15.22 (SAR)

February 15, 2022 Lower School News

President’s Day Weekend: There is no school this Friday, February 18, or Monday, February 21. School will resume on Tuesday, February 22.

First Grade Chapel: Join us tomorrow, February 16, at 8:30 AM in the Performing Arts Center for a special chapel presented by our first-grade students.

Grandparents Day Save the Date: Mark your calendar for Friday, March 11 for our upcoming Grandparents Day. This will be a half-day of school. More information will be coming home soon.

Campus Wear: A friendly reminder that your child must be in Ben Lippen campus wear on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays each week. Campus wear includes a Land’s End collared shirt within our color palette (black, white, pale yellow, green) and khaki, black, or gray pants for boys. Girls may wear approved Land’s End dresses or skirts, and/or collared shirts within our color palette (black, white, pale yellow, and green) and khaki, black, or gray pants. If girls choose to wear leggings underneath their dresses/ skirts, they must be within our color palette as well. Lost and Found: Due to our ever-changing South Carolina winter weather – we have accumulated a large collection of lost and found items. There will be a table with these items in the parking lot near the front office entrance at SAR from 7:30-8:30 AM tomorrow and Thursday of this week (February 16 & 17). Please stop by and check it out. If your child rides the bus, please have them check with the office (or reply to this email) and we will help them look for their missing item. Anything that is not claimed by Monday will be donated to the Campus Wear Closet.

Explore the Unique Qualities of Gen Z at the upcoming Parent Summit: This summit will be held on Thursday, February 24, 8:30-10:00 am at the Jones Center at Columbia International University. Dr. Jennifer Pilpe, Director of Faculty and Academics Grades 9 through 12, will be presenting. Each generation presents characteristics that distinguish it from those previous. Most of today’s students, born between 1997 and 2012, are members of Generation Z (Gen Z) and have grown up in a post-Recession world where technology is as commonplace as sweet tea in the South. Join us as we explore the unique qualities of Gen Z and what characterizes them as students, young adults, and people of faith.

Daddy Daughter Dance: Just a reminder that our Daddy Daughter Dance will be held on Saturday, February 26th at our Monticello Road Campus from 6:30- 8:30 PM. Reservation forms (see attached) are due back to the school office by February 22. Our PTF is also in need of volunteers to assist with this dance.
