Message from the Headmaster

August 1, 2019 Ben Lippen News

Dear Falcon Families,

It is hard to believe that the start of the school year is in sight. As a member of the Ben Lippen community, you have likely noticed that this summer has brought about many noticeable and exciting changes to our beautiful campus. The Arts and Science Center has really taken shape, security upgrades have been finalized, and facility upgrades are completed on both of our amazing campuses. To God be the glory!

Construction of our new addition is progressing but at a slightly slower pace than expected. The contractors are working exceptionally hard to get the certificate of occupancy from the city by Friday, August 9. There is a possibility that we could open the Arts and Science Center immediately thereafter for the first day of school, but that would be difficult logistically. We want to make sure that our upper school students have the very best experience for their first week of school as they enter our new Arts and Science Center as well as our updated high school facility.

Therefore, we believe that our best option, after much prayer and consideration of alternate options, is to delay the first day of school until Monday, August 19, for all upper school students (grades 6-12). Grades Pre-K3 – 5 will start as scheduled on Wednesday, August 14, at both campuses. All scheduled events on Monday, August 12, and Tuesday, August 13, will proceed as planned. Please check the calendar on our website for details on those events.

Be assured that our Board of Directors, administrators, teachers, facility coordinator and I are still 100% committed to making our first day experience a tremendous success. We plan to use this temporary delay as an opportunity to be better prepared to open the new Arts and Science Center and tweak all final details for an amazing school year.

Remember this delay is only for upper school (grades 6-12) students. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, worries, or needs. You can call the school office at 803-807-4100 or email your divisional principal.

We look forward to a great year at Ben Lippen School. Thank you for your support of our school!

Sincerely,

Tony Fajardo
