Middle School: An Incredible First Week and Parent Night Reminder for Tuesday 8/17 (6-8pm)

August 14, 2021 Upper School News

Dear Middle School Parents,

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

I wanted to reach out to you this afternoon to provide a quick update on the first few days of school, and to remind you about our upcoming Middle School Parent Night, which is scheduled for this Tuesday evening, August 17, from 6-8 p.m.

First, let me say just how impressed we have been with our students so far. The new school year kicked off with tremendous success this week, and our Middle School students displayed great enthusiasm, leadership, and school spirit as we returned to campus! This promises to be one of the best years ever at Ben Lippen, and we are thankful for your partnership with us in advancing Christian education in the hearts and minds of the more than 300 students who are part of our Middle School this year! We also appreciate your support and encouragement as we worked through a few wrinkles in student schedules, made necessary adjustments where needed, and have nearly finalized the process of assigning more than 300 ChromeBooks to each and every student. Among the highlights from the first few days were the many positive comments we heard from students about how much they liked the new Dining Hall, the food choices at Lunch, the fun they had during Break/Recess, reuniting with friends (and making new ones), and getting to know their teachers! We give thanks to The Lord for allowing us to be back together as a Ben Lippen community!

Looking ahead, I want to remind you about our upcoming Middle School Parent Night (for Grades 5-8), which is scheduled for Tuesday, August 17, from 6-8 p.m. We will begin our time together with an assembly in the Ben Lippen Gym, followed by brief introductions and remarks from school administrators. Shortly after, parents will have plenty of time to “drop-in” and visit their child’s teachers and classrooms. Because we will utilize a “drop-in” format, parents are free to leave at a time that is convenient for their schedule, with no pressure to stay all the way until the 8:00 pm end time. Our teachers and administrators will be available to answer any questions that you may have. We look forward to seeing you Tuesday night!

As mentioned previously, we have adjusted our Monday schedule to include our Middle School Chapel, and to increase instruction, writing, experiment, and lab time in our core academic classes. That new schedule will begin this Monday, and we are excited to see how The Lord uses this opportunity to enhance student learning and growth for our Middle School students! Don’t forget, Monday is our “Late Start” day each week, with school beginning an hour later (9:10 am). Students will report to their Study Hall class at that time for attendance, and then they will walk to Chapel with their teachers. This coming Monday morning, we will have an assembly to go over the Monday schedule with the students. Each student will receive their very own, personalized and highlighted schedule from their teacher during that assembly, who will walk them through their schedule and answer any questions that they may have. 5th and 6th Grade students will still go to their classes with their current assigned section and classmates, so they won’t notice much change at all! This new format for Monday Chapel and classes promises to be an exciting opportunity for our Middle School students!

In closing, let me reiterate how excited we are about our students and the new school year! Our team of teachers and administrators have been praying for the students and their families, and for our school community as a whole in recent days and weeks. We will continue to do so in the months ahead, and we invite you to join us in praying for The Lord’s continued protection, grace, and blessings upon Ben Lippen School!

We look forward to seeing you Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in the BLS Gym!

GO FALCONS!
