October 12, 2021 Upper School News

Dear Middle School Parents,

Good morning! I hope that everyone is looking forward to the upcoming Fall Break, which begins this Wednesday afternoon. Fall Break will last through this Friday, October 15th. Classes will resume on Monday, October 18th. We pray that the coming days away bring some much-needed time for rest and enjoyment for you and your family!

Before we head out for the break, I wanted to share a few important notes and updates with you regarding some upcoming dates/events.

Congratulations to Mrs. Bonner: We are very proud of our Middle School Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Sara Bonner, who competed in the world famous Boston Marathon yesterday! This is such a huge accomplishment and recognition after many years of training and preparation. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Bonner the next time you see her!

Wednesday, October 13 (½ Day, Noon Dismissal): As a reminder, school will dismiss this Wednesday at Noon for our Middle School students. Grades 5, 6, and 7 will be released promptly at Noon. 8th Grade students will be released as soon as the PSAT concludes, which we anticipate being as close to Noon as possible. There will be no After School Study Hall available Wednesday. Students are welcome to wear normal “Falcon Friday” attire (Friday dress code) to school this Wednesday!

Report Cards: We anticipate releasing report cards for Middle School sometime late Wednesday. Please be on the lookout for an email announcing their release!

Spirit Week and Homecoming, October 18-22: When we return from Fall Break, we will enjoy our annual Spirit Week and Homecoming activities! This is always a time of fun, making memories, and for showing our school spirit for Ben Lippen. In addition to the special dress days listed below, please see the attached flyer. Friday, October 22nd will also be a ½ day (Noon dismissal). High School will be organizing the traditional BLS carnival, which will be held just prior to the Homecoming football game that Friday night. Please make plans to join us that night, and to stay for the exciting fireworks show that will follow the game!

You don’t want to miss this incredible opportunity to hear from Dr. Pack, pastor of Riverland Hills Baptist Church. More information to come in the next couple weeks. This seminar is designed for parents of K3-12th grade students.

Special Learning and Fun Activities Coming In November For Middle School: In early-November our 8th Grade class will be traveling to Washington, DC for their annual class trip. Around that same time, students in Grades 5, 6, and 7 will be participating in several fun and engaging events and learning activities! More details will be shared about this exciting time after we return from Fall Break!

Once again, we pray that everyone has a safe, fun, and relaxing Fall Break with family and friends!
