Middle School: Reminders/Details About Next Week and New Bell Schedule!
Dear Middle School Families,
Good afternoon!
I hope everyone is enjoying the final weekend of summer, and that you are as excited as we are about starting a brand new school year together next week!
Before going further, I want to share with you that our dedicated team of teachers and administrators have been hard at work preparing for what we believe will be a fantastic year here at Ben Lippen. We cannot wait to see all that The Lord has in store for our school community in the months ahead! Please join us in praying for a safe, fun, and rewarding year for everyone!
I wanted to reach out to share a few reminders about next week, as well as provide you with our brand new Middle School bell schedule for 2021-2022 (below).
New Student Orientation: Tuesday, August 10th (9:00 – 10:30 am)
Who: All 5th-Graders, along with all 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade students who are new to Ben Lippen this year.
What: A time to meet teachers and new friends, and to learn about our school and campus.
When: Tuesday, August 10th (9:00-10:30 am)
Where: Students may be dropped off in the Middle School drop-off/pick-up area (preferably), or in front of the school. We will have teachers located in both areas to help students find their designated areas. We will begin our time together at The FORCE (outdoor recreation area beside the Gym) before students will go on tours with their classmates and teachers.
Additional Information: This event is for new students. Parents should drop students off and Middle School teachers will help them find the assembly area and their groups. Tours will be given, and helpful information will be shared. Students do not need to bring any supplies (school supplies may be brought on the first day of school). Dress comfortably (Campus Wear is not required). Each student will also receive a special treat! Students can be picked up and reconnect with parents no later than 10:30 am in the Middle School pick-up/drop-off area (located at the back of the BLS campus). Please note, attending this event is encouraged, but not required.
Open Campus: Tuesday, August 10th (10:30 am – Noon), Drop-In
Who: Open to all returning 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade students.
What: A time to see classrooms and teachers.
When: Tuesday, August 10th (10:30 an – Noon), Drop-In

Additional Information: Please note, attending Open Campus is optional. We will also have our Back-to-School Parent Night on Tuesday, August 17th (6 – 8 p.m.) for those families who cannot attend Open Campus.
1st Day of School: Wednesday, August 11th (8:10 am – Noon), ½ Day of School

Middle School Bell Schedule (see below)
The brand new Middle School bell schedule is included for your review! As shared in my previous email, our Monday schedule will follow a different format this year as we will have Chapel after our “Late Start.” Students will then attend their core academic courses (Math, Science, ELA, and History) in a block format to allow for added academic time. This will provide time for Writing Labs, Science Labs, and other valuable opportunities to enhance student learning! Monday’s longer periods (60 minutes) will be designated by letters A, B, C, and D. To help our students understand the Monday format, we will have a special assembly on Monday, August 16th with the students to go over their Monday schedules! Teachers will also work closely with students to assist as we make this transition. We are very excited about this new schedule and how it will provide additional academic opportunities for our students! Don’t worry, Break, Recess, and Lunch are all still part of the Monday schedule!
Tuesday/Thursday and Wednesday/Friday Classes:
To further simplify our schedule for our 5th-8th Grade students, we wanted to share with you that Middle School will no longer be on an A/B Day schedule for PE and World Language due to how we will hold classes on Monday. Instead, students will simply have one of these classes every Tuesday/Thursday, and the other every Wednesday/Friday. For instance, if a student has Spanish on Tuesday and Thursday in a given week, they will have that class every Tuesday and Thursday. It won’t change each week as we have done in the past. This should help with packing those gym bags each week! Again, this Tuesday/Thursday and Wednesday/Friday format only applies to PE and World Languages, which alternate every other day. We hope this helps our younger students memorize their schedules much easier this year!
In closing, we are very excited about the upcoming year, and we greatly appreciate your prayers, support, and partnership as we aim to provide the very best Christian education experience possible. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve your families each and every day!
GO FALCONS!
