Dear Parents,

Here are a few important reminders for the upcoming weeks:

Grandparents’ Day:  Ben Lippen Lower School will celebrate Grandparents’ Day on Friday, March 10th, which is also a half day of school. with dismissal at 11:45 am. The morning will begin with grade level presentations at 8:45 am (PreK-3 – 1st grade) and will be followed by classroom visits and refreshments at 9:15 am and ending with 2nd-4th grade presentations at 10:00 am. A permission slip went home to let us know who your child will be leaving with on Grandparents Day.  We need a permission form for each child. All forms are due by Wednesday, March 8.

Come to the Table: Join us on March 25 for an evening of community, celebration, and vision casting. During this evening under the lights, guests will enjoy appetizers, dinner, dessert, live music by very talented students, and an auction. Dr. Fajardo will also share the vision for the future of Ben Lippen School.  If you would like to volunteer or have an item or experience to donate for the auction, please contact tina.moore@benlippen.com.

Youth Development Golf and Basketball:  Registration is open for youth development golf and basketball. Flyers went home last week.

Message from PTF: Please save the date for the Mother/Son Neon Dodgeball event scheduled for Saturday, April 1st.  Permission slips went home today.

 

Technology Enrichment Class:   We need empty recyclable small cardboard boxes (cereal, tissue, shoeboxes, etc)   If you have any that you would like to donate, please send them in by March 14.

 

AR Goal Carnival:  On Friday, March 17 we will host an AR Seussapalooza Carnival to celebrate those students who have achieved their AR goal and beyond!  If you would like to be part of this special event for our 3rd and 4thgraders,  please click on the following link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4EA9A729A6FD0-arseussapalooza

Fireflies Reading Program: Ben Lippen Lower School is participating in the Columbia Fireflies Reading Program. Your child will have the opportunity to improve their reading skills and earn a FREE ticket to a Fireflies baseball game. The reading program is from Wednesday, February 1st to Friday, March 10th. Our school’s game date is Sunday, May 7th at 6:05 pm. Additional tickets may be purchased at a discounted rate of $10 per person.

Library News:  We are excited about the upcoming author visits coming soon!  Kate Albus, author of A Place to Hang the Moon and soon to be released, Nothing Else But Miracles, will be visiting our Ben Lippen campus on Tuesday, March 21  to share with the 3rd and 4th graders about her books and her writing process. Children’s author, Jeryl Christmas, will also be visiting our campus on Wed., March 22.  She will be speaking to the PreK3-2nd grade classes and you have the opportunity to preorder her books and get a signed copy. The order form is attached and the deadline for the book order is Friday,
March 17.

Lost and Found:  There are lots of items in the lost and found.  Please check out the table in the lobby for any items that might be your child’s.  If items are not claimed by this Thursday they will go to Goodwill or the clothes closet.
