During the first week of November, Ben Lippen Middle School kicked off the first-ever SLAM Week with service projects, games, field trips, and exciting activities!
While 8th grade was in Washington, DC, grades 5, 6, and 7 rotated through different activities from day to day, sporting brand new SLAM Week t-shirts. Middle School teachers and staff also received a specially-designed t-shirt to wear throughout the week and show their excitement for all the festivities!
The first day of SLAM Week was centered around a service project that included a lesson on how to properly write thank you notes. Students then wrote heartfelt notes to Prisma Health workers thanking them for their service, dedication, and time spent helping others. The second part of the service project was writing letters to recent BLS graduates and stuffing care packages for them. Afterward, students devoured loaded hotdogs and nachos from The Haute Dog Lady and finished up with laser tag! The second and third days of SLAM Week were spent at Riverbanks Zoo with packed lunches from our amazing cafeteria staff and a trip to The South Carolina State Museum. At the museum, students experienced a 4-D movie and loved venturing through the four different levels of the museum. When they returned to Ben Lippen, they explored our campus during a fun-filled scavenger hunt created by Mrs. Craft.
This year’s inaugural SLAM Week was the beginning of a tradition that our students will remember for years. Thank you to our administration and teachers for helping our middle school students create memories that will last a lifetime!
