Teaches: Middle School Math, Middle School Bible
Miss Higgins joined the Ben Lippen faculty family in 2018 and she is already having an impact on our school. The middle school students who have the pleasure of having Miss Higgins as a teacher have noticed her exuberant spirit and zest for life as well as her love for Jesus. Many have already named her as their favorite teacher!
Tell us about your family. My family is made up of my mom, stepdad, sister, brother, and two stepbrothers. I am the second oldest child. My sister is only one year younger than me, and she is my very best friend. I currently live with 3 beautiful roommates and puppy Tallulah. I have many sweet friends who have become my family in Columbia.
What do you like to do in your free time? I like to drink too much coffee, read books, and laugh with friends. My most favorite places to be are Soda City Market and Target. I would spend all my free time there if I could.
What are you passionate about? Jesus, Middle schoolers, and Cookout milkshakes
What do students get at BL that they won’t get somewhere else? Adults who care about students’ hearts, not just their brains.
What do you love most about BL? I love that I am constantly covered in prayer by parents, other teachers, administration, and even my students!
What do you love about teaching math? I love that math is organized and predictable. I love that the details are imperative, but it doesn’t make sense until you step back and look at the big picture. I think this reflects the Lord’s character in so many ways.
What do you love most about teaching your students? In 2 Corinthians 5:17 it says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, the new creation is here. The old has gone, the new is here.” I love to watch this transformation happen. In middle school, students are literally leaving their baby bodies behind and growing into adults. My prayer is that a similar conversion would happen in their hearts. Middle school is a time of figuring out who you are, and I love that I get the privilege of reminding my students who they belong to.
