Teaches: Middle School Band
Mr. Sarazen has been married to his wife, Amy, for two years and has a one-year-old son named Judson who grows more adventurous by the day! In his spare time, you can find Mr. Sarazen working on projects around the house, taking walks with his family at the Riverfront Park, or enjoying a big bowl of cereal (his favorite food!). He also loves gardening (he’s currently growing a large pineapple garden!), painting houses (he works part-time for Palmetto Decorators), and traveling (24 countries and counting!).
Why do you teach at Ben Lippen? When I was a home-schooled high school student, Darryl Andrews invited me to join the Ben Lippen Band. It was here that I fell in love with band and decided that I wanted to be involved forever! Little did I know that one day I would have the privilege of continuing Mr. Andrew’s legacy! Band is a place where every individual has a unique role to play, and each performs his own part to the best of his or her ability in order to contribute to the whole. What a great picture of the body of Christ – each of us playing our part to make something beautiful!
What is your favorite part of your school day? Band is a lot of work, and there are many not-so-pleasant sounds made during practice while we learn how to perform correct notes and rhythms on our instruments. However, there will always come the moment when the group is finally able to play a piece of music successfully, and the satisfaction from that accomplishment is hard to beat! I love the feeling of collective success!
What do you love most about Ben Lippen? I love the community here. It is evident that each teacher, student, and faculty member is cared for and valued. It feels like a family! I am looking forward to the future.
