Teaches: Middle and High School Choir, Public Speaking
Tell us about yourself. My name is Ian Hammond, and I am super excited to be teaching choir at Ben Lippen. I’m from Greenville, South Carolina. I graduated from North Greenville University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance in 2021 after transferring from Lipscomb University at the end of my freshman year. I love singing and have been singing since I was a little kid. While in school at Lipscomb and at North Greenville, I performed in various staged works including La Serva Padrona, Down in the Valley, and La Canterina.
What do you like to do in your free time? I love being out on the lake. You can probably find me fishing, kayaking, swimming, or water skiing. I also enjoy the occasional game of ultimate frisbee. I’m a big Clemson fan and I also like the Charlotte Hornets and the Tennessee Titans. I also love to run. I enjoy playing board games and doing crosswords, sudoku, and puzzles.
What else would you like for us to know about you? I collect vinyl records of albums I like and collect ballcaps and postcards from places I’ve visited.
What are you passionate about? One of my biggest joys is helping others reach their full potential in everything they do for the glory of God. I strive to see that potential in others and help them come up with practical steps to reach their full potential while supporting and encouraging them along the way.
What do you love most about Ben Lippen? I love the fact that students can experience education from a Christian worldview. I love being able to talk with students and coworkers about God and about scripture. I love being surrounded by a group of teachers, staff, and administrators who actively lift one another up in prayer every day. I love being able to share the love of Jesus with students through teaching choir and encouraging them to use their gifts for His glory.
