Title: Fine Arts Director
Tell us about yourself. My name is Taylor Nelson, and I am excited to serve as the Fine Arts Director at Ben Lippen School. I have been singing for as long as I can remember, and I am passionate about using the voice to reflect the glory of the Creator. I hold an undergraduate degree in music education with a double minor in Bible and Spanish from Cedarville University and a Master of Music in Music Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Over the course of my career, I’ve performed as a singer or conductor in several world-renowned venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Vatican, the Biltmore Estate, Walt Disney World, and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
What do you like to do in your free time? Depending on the season, you will likely find me cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Duke Blue Devils, or the Colorado Rockies on any given Saturday. I enjoy watching the games from the comfort of my own couch (with a Dr. Pepper in hand)! When I get an itch to be more active, I enjoy paddleboarding, playing volleyball, or biking over to Indah Coffee.
What else would you like for us to know about you? Before transitioning to Ben Lippen, I spent most of my life in Charlotte, North Carolina.
What are you passionate about? I am passionate about the idea and execution of community. In the Fine Arts Department, our motto is “Better. Together.” Better – representing our collective goal of creating art, theater, and music of the highest quality for the glory of God. Together – representing our need for each other in this process. Each member needs the greater team, and the greater team needs each member.
