Teaches: 3rd Grade, Monticello Road Campus
Mrs. Gilliam has been married to her husband, David, for 26 years and the couple has 4 children: Abby (sophomore at Anderson University and BLS Class of 2018), Wesley (senior at Ben Lippen), Joshua (sophomore at Ben Lippen), and Noah (3rd grader at Ben Lippen’s SAR campus). The Gilliam family also includes two dogs – a schnoodle named Bella and a golden doodle named Violet.
What do you like to do in your free time? I mainly watch my children play sports. I also love to scrapbook and read.
What is something our readers might not know about you? My first 10 years of teaching was in public school. I took a 12-year break to stay home with my children when they were young. Now I am in my 9th year at Ben Lippen. I have LOVED being here so long and will be able to see my first class of 3rd graders graduate next year in 2021.
What do you love most about teaching at Ben Lippen? It is so refreshing to be able to pray with my students, teach them God’s Word, and teach all subjects through a Biblical Worldview. I feel like I can be a missionary in my own classroom by sharing about Jesus and what He has done in my life. I love seeing my students accept Christ as their personal Savior and have been able to witness several of them be baptized in their churches. What a blessing!
