Mrs. Farmer joined Ben Lippen’s faculty family this year to teach 8th grade Physical Science. She and her husband, Brad, have been married for 18 years and they have a son, Bennett, who is 10 and attends 5th grade at Ben Lippen. Rounding out the Farmer family is a fur baby, a sweet Texas Heeler named Daytona.
What do you love most about teaching middle school science? My favorite area of science is physical science (forces, motion, electricity, magnetism), and what a blessing it is to be teaching this at Ben Lippen this year! I love providing students with those “a-ha!” moments and giving them opportunities to learn more about what a creative God we serve.
What do you like to do in your free time? I am an avid reader and I enjoy reading classical literature such as The Confessions of Saint Augustine (my favorite book other than the Holy Scriptures), The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, works by Edgar Allen Poe, and Sherlock Holmes stories. My family loves the outdoors, so if the weather is kind, you will find us enjoying God’s Creation by hiking in the woods, riding bikes, fishing, camping, or sitting by our outdoor fire pit with friends.
What is something most people don’t know about you? Most people don’t know that music is an integral part of my life. I began playing the piano at age 8 and continued to play through my senior year in college. I participated in marching band in high school, college, and even post-college as a marching instructor. I simply can’t go one day without enjoying the beauty and joy that God provides through the gift of music!
