Teaches: 8th Grade English
Tell us about your family. Josh and I are both from Winnsboro, SC, and lived there most of our lives until recently; we moved to Lexington this past May and love our neighborhood and sense of community. We have been married for almost seven years, and have one beautiful daughter, Ava Grace. She is in kindergarten at the SAR campus this year, and we could not be more thankful to be a part of the Ben Lippen family! We do everything together and love grilling out, going to Garden City Beach, spending time with our friends and family, and EVERYTHING Christmas! We have a Great Dane named Vinny, and five hermit crabs who are named after Disney princesses. We are so excited for this next chapter in our lives, and undoubtedly know God led us to Ben Lippen.
What do you like to do in your free time? What free time? Ha! I love to cook and read. On the weekends, I love doing anything with Josh and Ava Grace; we simply enjoy being together and are looking forward to fall festivities, like apple picking and visiting the pumpkin patch!
What else would you like readers to know about you? Growing up, I never imagined I would be a teacher. In fact, I’ve had numerous different jobs within a school setting, but teaching is my passion. I begin each class with prayer and announce that it is, “A great day to have a great day!” I love to encourage my students and get them excited about learning; watching them grow into confident writers and enthusiastic readers brings me insurmountable joy. My prayer for them is that they not only discover something about the novels we read, or the poets we listen to but also about themselves.
What is something most people don’t know about you? Most people do not know that I once lived in Tennessee while pursuing a music career!
Why do you choose to work at Ben Lippen? I choose to work at BLS because I am passionate about Christian education. Adolescents learn so much from social media, television, and society in general, and I am so grateful that our students have the opportunity to learn about Jesus’ love and mercy here. Students can be educated at countless schools in our community, but I believe that teaching Christian principles and values equips our students to face life and thrive for years to come.
What do you love most about Ben Lippen? I love the kindness that overflows at Ben Lippen; the administration, teachers, and parents are extremely supportive and are always willing to serve others. Christ’s love is evident in our classrooms, hallways, and our entire campus; our school verse is John 3:30, “He must become greater; I must become less,” and this resonates here every single day.
