The Lyu Family: Summer 2021

The Lyu family, who has children in middle and high school at Ben Lippen, spent over a month traveling the United States this summer. Read on for an account of their travels from Mr. Lyu!

This summer, we had a road tour around America, 5 weeks, and 20 states. We started in Atlanta, then headed to Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, and then back to South Carolina. We visited a few national parks, including the White Sands National Park, Picacho Peak State Park (Arizona), Yosemite, Yellow Stone, Cannon Beach, Mt. Saint Helens, Mt. Rainier, Orcas Island, Arches National Park, Mt. Evans, Red Rock Park in Denver, and Ark Encounter in Kentucky.

We had the chance to visit sites that my children learned from textbooks, which are unforgettable memories. Although the trip was not easy, Alice and Thomas want to take another trip later. The one park they want to go back to is Yellowstone Park, a marvelous place to revisit.

We did not have any plan, not to say budget. However, our God is good and merciful. We met many friends, brothers, and sisters. I would say those times with other Christian families are the most precious memory for me and my family. They also learned how to offer hospitality to friends, as we were warmly welcomed by our friends in different cities. It is a life-on-life journey to us all.
