Ben Lippen Stories

The McCoy Family

What do you feel your child gets at Ben Lippen School that she would not get somewhere else? The Gospel!! Not that she wouldn’t get it from anywhere else, but knowing that it is an integral part of her education makes my heart very happy. Also, the smaller class sizes and one-on-one interaction with her teachers helps with her learning disabilities. Lastly, from what I hear, the kids get to be kids at BL. My daughter was surprised that the faculty actually let the kids do cartwheels at lunch! I really appreciate that because kids only get to be kids once.

Our theme for this year is Thrive. How has Ben Lippen School helped your child THRIVE? My daughter has only been at school for one full week, but I’ve seen that she is coming to embrace this change, is making new friends, and is able to be herself. I think she felt guarded expressing her faith in public schools, but at Ben Lippen, she is being encouraged by others in her faith family. She already said that Bible is one of her favorite classes!

What campus does your child attend and what makes that campus unique and special to your family? Naomi attends the Monticello Rd. campus. It feels like a small college campus. The Ben Lippen family has been so warm and welcoming and has made this transition as comfortable as possible. The staff always seems upbeat and positive and makes for a good start to our day. We look forward to getting to some football games and building with the BL community.

How would you share the value of the sacrifices your family has made for your daughter to attend Ben Lippen? God brought my wife a really good job back in January before we had any clue what was about to happen. He was providing for us because he loves Naomi so very much and knew that virtual school was not going to be a healthy option for her. Naomi has ADD and gets distracted easily. She absolutely needs individual teacher attention. We watched her struggle greatly during the shutdown at the end of last school year. With both of us working full time, my wife and I had great anxiety about the 2020 school year. We looked at our finances and realized that God was setting the stage back in January and, after prayerful consideration, we made the decision to enroll her. I feel 100% confirmation from the Holy Spirit on this decision. I’m not going to lie, there are a bunch of other things I’d like to spend that money on, but the quality of my daughter’s education is priceless. The fact that she is surrounded by mature Believers is priceless. The fact that she is in an environment that is going to help her push back against culture is priceless. We are so humble and thankful that the Lord has brought us to Ben Lippen.

What advice would you give families who are considering Ben Lippen School? Take the tour. Meet the people. See all the smiling faces. I was very hesitant with the idea when my wife brought it up initially. I had preconceived notions about private school, which was unfair and very judgmental on my part. The tour is what turned it all around for me. What a lovely administration!
