Veterans Day Chapel on November 11

November 7, 2019 Upper School News

Dear Middle and High School Parents and Students,

As mentioned in chapel, this coming Monday (November 11) we will be having a special Veterans Day chapel to honor those who are currently serving our country or have served in the Armed Services. Our special guest speaker for this chapel will be retired US Army Infantry Officer Jim Lechner, whose career includes command and staff positions in conventional and special operations units, as well as participation in eight operational deployments including Somalia with Task Force Ranger (made famous by the book and movie “Black Hawk Down”), Sinai, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.  Since his retirement from the US Military in 2011, Jim has served in Afghanistan as a Counter Insurgency Advisor to the Commander of the Coalition Forces, as well as providing support for other US Government efforts.

With chapel being on Monday, we will be running a special class schedule (see attached).  Chapel will start at 9:10AM on Monday, so all students should walk straight over to Shortess Chapel when they arrive at school.  First block will begin immediately following chapel.  Also, we will not be running chapel on Wednesday.  Instead, we will run a normal Tuesday/Thursday/Friday schedule on Wednesday.  Seniors will still be able to go to Senior Lunch at the normal time on Wednesday.

We would like to invite any parents or loved ones that have served in the armed forces that wish to attend this special chapel.  If you plan to attend there will be seating available in the balcony of Shortess Chapel.  If you have any questions please let me know.

In Him,

Max Russell
